When Pete Doherty emerged alongside Carl Barat in a little known group called The Libertines in 2002 it seemed British music had finally got something to talk about again. Along with Gary Powell and John Hassall, the pair connected with fans in a whole different way - playing gigs in living rooms and street corners.

Since those times though, Doherty has fallen, very quickly and publicly, from Libertine to shambles. On the week that he was sentenced to 14 weeks in jail for failing to adhere to a probation order, here we chart his life at the very best and worst of times.
