La Nina To Affect Summer Of Festivals

Weather forecasters are predicting that the summer of festivals could be affected by the La Nina phenomenon in the Pacific Ocean.

La Nina is a coupled ocean-atmosphere phenomenon that sees the surface temperature across the equatorial Eastern Central Pacific Ocean lower.

So what does that mean for the festival punter? Well hopefully it should mean less rain although not too many scorching weekends.

Speaking to efestivals, metcheck said: “Although we're expecting a somewhat average British Summer thanks to the effects of La Nina in the Pacific, it shouldn't be anything quite like we saw last year.”

Adding about the prospects for Glastonbury the weather predicting site said that attendees can expect some rain but nothing like the heavy showers of 2007.

They added: “As usual, Glastonbury is situated at the end of June, in the European ‘monsoon’ period which makes it liable to rain; however this year shouldn't see anything like a re-run of last year's deluge.”

As previously reported on Gigwise registration for Glastonbury tickets reopens today at 4pm after they failed to sell out on Sunday (April 6).
