The Who’s Pete Townshend and Beatles producer Sir George Martin were among guests at the funeral of Neil Aspinall yesterday (April 7th).
Aspinall, who was the chief executive of Apple Corps, the band’s record label, died in New York last month. He had been suffering from lung cancer.
The widow of John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and daughter of Sir Paul McCartney, Stella, also attended the private service in Twickenham.
It’s understood that McCartney, who is currently on holiday, sent flowers, reports the BBC.
Aspinall formed a close relationship with the band after he met George Harrison and McCartney at Grammar School in Liverpool.
It was for his role at Apple Corps, where he managed the rights to the group's music and business commitments, that he will be most remembered.
Speaking at the time of Aspinall’s death, McCartney said he “will miss him but will remember the laughs, there were plenty."
