Jay-Z is reportedly ready to pull out of his headline slot at Glastonbury, in favour of performing at the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park instead.
The rapper is thought to be disgruntled about the somewhat ungrounded accusation that his performance is behind the slump in interest over the Worthy Farm event.
At the time of writing this, tickets are still available for Glastonbury 24 hours after going on sale, despite them selling out within hours in 2007.
Despite Michael and Emily Eavis blaming last year’s dire weather for the fall in interest, Jay-Z is apparently upset at the accusations blaming him for the disinterest.
A ‘source’ told The Sun: “He hasn’t liked all this talk of how Glastonbury is more urban and hip this year because of his appearance.
“He feels it’s a bit sad and he’s being used to make a point. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when he was blamed for the lower registrations.”
Despite this tabloid report, Michael Eavis yesterday said that Jay-Z was still on the headline, telling reporters: “I spoke to his people this weekend. Everything is fine. I’m excited.”
In other Jay-Z news, the rapper married his long-term girlfriend Beyonce Knowles at a private ceremony in his New York apartment on Friday. Aside from his family guests included Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow as well as Beyonce’s Destiny’s Child bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Clarkson.

- He’s not the reason why I’m not going. It’s because Glastonbury wrongly thinks it’s untouchable and has been generally going downhill for years. I think the lack of interest in 2008 is a reminder that Eavis needs to buck his ideas up

- I’m going. Not massively into Jay-Z but would go and watch and give him a chance. I’m sure there’ll be other acts that don’t wow me at Glasto, but 90% of the reason of going is to discover things you never would normally. Shame people don’t realise that Glato isn’t about the headliners. Stick to Reading for big headliners and nothing else.
