A French touch on music can always glamorise the whole piece – blinding the listener with a false show of class and sophistication. Here however, London’s Autokratz are clearly chucking that direction out of the window. ‘Pardon Gacon’ is an anthem for the careless house parties, where the host doesn’t tend to worry about the consequences of a few broken walls. Sophistication isn’t even considered, Autokratz are just the guardian over your shoulder making sure you have a good time. Dancing next to the a-side is ‘French Girls Play Guitar’, even more melodic and even more enjoyable. And although nothing is innovative or original about either of these two songs, the band have simply been looking in the right places for research and are set to blow a few people’s minds.
Released 07/04/08 on Kitsune.
