Weezer are all set to unleash their third self-titled album, with the release date pencilled in for June.
To escape any confusion, Weezer are referring to their latest LP as the 'Red Album' and it comprises of sessions produced by Rick Rubin, Jacknife Lee and themselves. In a message posted on the band’s official website, frontman Rivers Cuomo said:
”We have one song left to mix and then it’s on to mastering. We should be all done very soon. Then we can chill for a minute”. He added “The album is meaty, crunchy and melodic like a good Weezer album should be”.
Bassist Scott Shriner, who is very optimistic about the band’s sixth studio album, explained: “Weezer fans truly have something to look forward to. The entire band has accomplished some of its most challenged goals as a group and as individuals.”
Weezer's other eponymous albums were referred to as 'The Blue Album' and 'The Green Album'.
‘Weezer’ is the follow-up to 2005’s ‘Make Believe’.
