Broadcaster Escapes Fine Over BRIT Awards Bad Language

And portrayal of alcohol...

ITV will not face action from the media watchdog Ofcom over the language used by Sharon Osbourne at this years BRIT Awards.

Viewers complained after Osbourne, who presented the ceremony along with the rest of her family, launched a tirade of abuse against the comedian Vic Reeves.

Reeves was attempting to present the final award of the night when Osbourne became angered when he failed to read the auto-cue.

Despite receiving over 100 complaints, Ofcom cleared ITV because the bad-language came "after the watershed and in a programme with a particular reputation".

The regulator confirmed that people had also complained about the portrayal of alcohol at the awards ceremony but said it had been "limited and incidental", reports the BBC.

The BRIT Awards took place at Earls Court in London on February 20th and for the second year in a row were broadcast live.
