Velvet Revolver are the number one choice to open for Led Zeppelin, if the band announce a world tour, according to bassist Duff McKagan.
“I understand that we have it, although I imagine there will be plenty of bands prepared to kick and punch us out of the way for the privilege,” McKagan told Hotpress.
Led Zeppelin have yet to confirm any future touring plans following their one off show at the O2 Arena last December.
Frontman Robert Plant currently has commitments with the singer Alison Krauss which run until September.
Led Zeppelin’s reunion caused hysteria among young and old fans when it was confirmed last year.
Over 1 million people applied for just 9,000 pairs of tickets to the London show.

- There is a reason Led Zeppelin stopped having opening acts back in the ’70’s, nobody gives a damn about the other band and the openers knew it. Velvet Revolver or anybody else would not work. They would either hear people shuffling around talking or crickets after each song. I would rather Zep play for 20 minutes with no opening act than a full show with. It’s a waste of my time, but if you’re going to do it pick someone from the Zep era.

- Well Jurasic Park was quite popular when it come round....& besides, the chance to see the magic one last time that conjured rock as we have known it to become, is a privilage that will never be given again. A once in a lifetime opportunity to be privy to something that creeps into your ears & explodes in your mind. It is obvious that; to see Led Zeppelin alive on stage & in the flesh is a dream come true to any ball fareing man.

- This subversive is an asshole
the most important band in the whole world after Jimi Hendrix Experience, is for shure, giving a gig tour over the wolrd, i can’t imagine myself thinking twice to see them.
Led Zep rocks and i hope they come to Argentina with they tour. Also VR has the last classic rock’s guitar player:slash. Tell me, who is better than he to open the act to the god of guitar(alive)?
well..
rock on man
Soy latino y escribo en ingles vieja

- This would be a dream come true for me personaly, as they are my fav 2 bands

- Right, just the details Zep are thinking about now: ”Who should open for us?”
