A session drummer that toured with Abba has been found dead with cuts to his throat in Spain.
Sixty-two-year-old Ola Brunkert played with the band on their first single ‘People Need Love’ and toured with them in 1977, 1979 and 1980.
He is the only musician, alongside bassist Rutger Gunnarsson, to be credited on all of the group’s albums, and retired to Majorca after the break-up of the band twenty-five years ago.
The BBC reports that police believe Brunkert hit his head on a glass window on Sunday afternoon, sustaining fatal neck wounds from broken glass. He managed to wrap a towel around his neck and stagger through the garden in search of help before collapsing.
A post-mortem is taking place but a spokeswoman reported that the death is suspected to be accidental.
Former Abba star Bjorn Ulvaeus has paid tribute to the musician in Swedish newspaper Expressen, saying, "I remember him as a good friend."
