Michael Eavis today admitted that interest in Glastonbury 2008 is down on last year and they’ve settled for ‘middle range headliners.’

Without a shadow of doubt, Glastonbury is going to amazing fun,  it will feature some career-defining live sets and will be plastered all over the media. Yet, many seem happy to steer clear of it in 2008.

Many say they are bored of the inevitable mud, the stringent ticketing process and the relative high ticket price compared to European festivals.

In Gigwise’s comments section today we’ve received a number of comments from people who are losing interest in the Worthy Farm event. Ncgirl says:

“Glasto has become a victim of its own success, it’s far too busy, the weather is generally bad and the because of the sheer amount of people the facilities suck. Because of the scramble for tickets over the last few years people have had to try other festivals and have realised sometimes the grass is greener elsewhere.”

On the other side of the coin, there are those that claim that Glastonbury is still the king of the festivals and only gets inevitable bad press because it is the biggest and most publicised event out there.

To them, it is comparable to none.

What’s your view? Have your say in our poll below:

  • You could have no acts playing on the bill and it would still piss over all the rest. For me nothing else comes close to Glasto, and if anything the news that less people have registered is top stuff for those that have, will give more of a chance for the people who really want to go (Unlike last year when any tom, dick and harry tried to go...). If people are really not registering because of three headliners then they don’t deserve to go, its not as if the lineup has been announced!

  • Glastonbury isnt just about the music-the music is a very minor part of the whoe Glastonbury experience. Its amazing!!! you meet the most random, nice people, and its just the best place on earth. I met my boyfriend there in 2005 when my tent got washed away in the mud, and we will be going till we die!! bring it on!!!
