Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters is writing the music for a Broadway musical.
The singer has teamed up with touring band member John Garden to the write the music for a stage adaptation of the Armistead Maupin book Tales of the City.
Tales of the City tells the exploits of a woman and the array of characters she meets in 1970’s San Francisco. Characters include transsexual landlady Anna Madrigal and gay gardener Michael "Mouse" Tolliver
According to the BBC, Tales of the City was voted Britain’s best gay novel in a poll two years ago.
The play is being written by Jeff Whitty, with Shears and Garden providing the music.
