Mogwai have confirmed details of a one-off show at the hallowed surroundings of the Queen Elizabeth Hall on London’s South Bank.
The Scottish post-rock merchants will headline the venue on May 12 alongside some ‘very special guests.’ When you buy a ticket, you also get a free Rock Action compilation to go with it too.
Tickets go on sale at 10am this coming Tuesday (March 18). As always, check Gigwise for availability.
The band are currently mixing their as-yet-untitled sixth album at their own studios in Glasgow.
In other Mogwai news, Stuart Braithwaite from the band has taken a pop at journalist Steve Sutherland calling him an “old fart” and a “moron.”
His diatribe relates to an article Stephen Dalton wrote for The Times last week about The NME and The NME Awards. Dalton spoke to Sutherland regarding his views on the corporate nature of the O2 Arena.
Braithwaite’s comments read:
‘“The O2 is a corporate venue if what you mean by corporate is that the toilets aren't overflowing, there are plenty of bars, the sound is great and everyone can see the bands,”. This piece of unadulterated drivel was uttered by Steve Sutherland in The Times who is an old fart who has something to do with the NME and probably claims to have invented Britpop or some other shite. Here's a bit of news Steve. The O2 is called a corporate venue because it’s named after a mobile phone company. You are a moron. Stuart Braithwaite.’
