Glastonbury Ticket Demand Down Because Of 'Middle Range Headliners'

The number of people registering for tickets to this years Glastonbury Festival is down on 2007, according to organiser Michael Eavis.

Eavis said that the drop in demand was down to the event’s “middle range” headliners.

This years Glastonbury Festival will be headlined by Kings Of Leon, The Verve and US rapper Jay-Z.

Speaking yesterday (March 14th) at the launch of biodegradable tent pegs, Eavis told the BBC: "There's not as many as last year because we haven't got the super, big, big, big sort of headlining act anymore.

“We've gone for something middle range although Jay-Z is huge in America."

He added, however, that organisers never expected the demand to be as high as last year when The Killers, Arctic Monkeys and The Who topped the bill.

"It's going to be absolutely brilliant. But it's not like a Radiohead or a Muse or a Coldplay or an Oasis is it?”

Registration for this year’s festival – which runs from June 27th-29th – closes tonight at midnight.

Ticket will go on sale on April 6th, with the full line up due to be announced at the beginning of June.
