Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he became a vegetarian when he was landing a catch on a fishing trip.
Appearing in a new advert for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), McCartney wears the organisations ‘Eat No…’ t-shirt, along with the message: "I am Paul McCartney and I am a vegetarian".
The poster also includes McCartney’s own words on when he realised he was a vegetarian.
"Many years ago, I was fishing, and as I was reeling in the poor fish, I realized, 'I am killing him - all for the passing pleasure it brings me.'
"And something inside me clicked. I realized as I watched him fight for breath, that his life was as important to him as mine is to me."
Earlier today (March 12th) the former Beatle condemned proposals to kill up to 500 kangaroos on an Australia military base near Canberra.
In a video message, McCartney said that the cull would be a “shameful massacre”. Authorities argue, however, that the animals are threatening other species.
