Iron Maiden fans will be able to download the group’s 80s best of 'Somewhere Back In Time: 1980-1989', for free from their website.
Users will only be able to listen to the high-quality tracks three times before the download expires, however.
They will then have the option to buy the album free of copyright protection technology (DRM).
In a message on their website, the band said that they hoped the best of would introduce new people to their music.
The album will be available via the bands website from May 12th.
