Courtney Love has claimed her late husband Kurt Cobain’s estate has been the victim of one of the largest cases of identity theft in US history.
The singer has presented police in Van Nuys, LA of details of a defraudment worth up to £36 million from the Nirvana star’s estate.
Love claims the scam has been going on for five years, with 188 credit cards being used in her name, as well as a $3.2 million New Jersey house purchased with Cobain’s social security number.
She tells The Sun, “I did a check on my deceased husband's social security number and he has a house in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He bought it last year.
"I would like to know how. He should probably get his ass back home if that is the case.
"I knew it had been going on since when I went cuckoo - bananas - in 2003. It was fraud after fraud. But nobody believed me until now."
Love adds that monies have also been taken from the couple’s daughter Frances Bean’s trust fund.
“Taking a child's money and future is a really horrible thing,” she says.
