Throbbing bass lines, drumbeats with endless energy and frenetic, summit conquering guitar riffs are all in attendance in ‘Monitors’ – the debut single from Manchester four piece Lowline. For a group of friends that only decided to form a band in Spring 2007, Lowline come with some impressive supporters. Owen Morris (The Verve/ Oasis) is on production duties; Nick McCabe of the Verve has made a guest appearance on guitar and the band themselves have already stunned audiences during support slots with The Enemy. It’s not hard to see why either. ‘Monitors’ is a visceral attack on all the senses that only normally get turned on when you see a band live. In fact, spend three-and-a-half minutes in the company of this record and you’ll feel more like you’ve spent forty in a sweat factory. To its credit, the city of Manchester never seems to stop searching for the next big thing; in Lowline, it might just have found it.
