The Enemy’s frontman Tom Clarke has accused the organisers of the BRIT Awards of being spineless for awarding the major prizes to the Arctic Monkeys.

Arctic Monkeys walked away with Best British Band and Best British album at the award ceremony in London earlier this month.

“It's disappointing the Arctic Monkeys were given loads of awards,” he told the Mirror. "They only won so much because the bosses knew it wouldn't offend anyone.”

Clarke said he felt that awards ceremonies had “turned into the Arctic Monkeys show”.

"I suppose you can't begrudge them one award,” he added. "They have had one good album and one average one but they haven't done anything special this year."

After snubbing the ceremony itself last year, the Arctic Monkeys accepted their awards this year dressed as country gents.

Noods, you’ve been here before taking great offence at Clarke’s comments about the Arctic’s... I reckon you secretly fancy a bit of Tom Clarke but just won’t admit it... He’s a good looking lad!

I would have told him where to stick his smart arse remarks if he mixed with the working classes at their gigs, but apparently he is too good for that. He’s an arse and a shite musician to boot!

The Monkeys are a one trick pony that had palled even before Brianstorm came out. The second album is just more of the same but less interesting. They remain trendy so people still vote for them, and the Nme is too embarrassed at how poor their great white hope got so quickly to draw attention to it.
