Jimi Hendrix's Drummer Dies Aged 60

Buddy Miles, Jimi Hendrix’s former drummer, has died at the age of 60 in Austin, Texas.

After co-founding Electric Flag, Miles contributed drums to Hendrix’s landmark 1968 album ‘Electric Ladyland’ before founding Band of Gypsys with Billy Cox and Hendrix some months later.

His publicist Duane Lee confirmed that Miles died on Tuesday night (February 26) and he had been suffering from congestive heart failure.

Lee told Associated Press: "He loved to laugh. We spent more time laughing than anything else. He was a great joke teller."

As well as Hendrix, Miles performed with an array of high-profile artists including David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, George Clinton, Santana, Muddy Waters and Barry White.
