Armed with the knowledge that Jubilee are a band formed by members of Nine Inch Nails and Queens Of The Stone Age, first offering ‘Rebel Hiss’ comes as something of a surprise. Instantly melodic and uplifting, it’s clear that Jubilee are offering something much more than a rehash of their former bands’ styles. This is, to quote the press release, “a REAL rock band!” With pounding, fist-in-the-air drums, and a truly stadium sized chorus, this song is a great triumph for the band in creating their first anthem. Also included on the single, ‘Fuzz Are Down’ further demonstrates the abilities of the band to create great rock music. ‘The Fool On The Pill’ and a cover of Neil Young’s ‘L.A.’ complete the package, and prove Jubilee’s worth as a real rock band to look out for in the coming months.
Released 25/02/08 on Buddyhead.
