Kaiser Chiefs will return to the studio within weeks to record a new single, frontman Ricky Wilson has revealed.
Wilson says he was “over the moon” with how many new songs the band had written during the touring of their last album, 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob'.
Speaking about the new material, Wilson told 6music that it “sounds fun, ridiculous, exciting and edgy and raw.”
“My favourite is currently called 'Hello Groovy’,” he said, adding that a song that the band played live last year called ‘Never Miss A Beat’, “feels like a new single.”
Following their touring commitments across the globe, Wilson described being in the band as like being in a local group again.
“We get to do a gig every so often and we're writing songs all the time so it feels like it used to,” he said. “It gets kind of out of hand when you've made a couple of albums.”
“You make an album then you're supposed to go around the world for two years promoting it. It's boring. It's nice to do things on your own terms.”
