Okay, the title isn’t quite true, but last night (February 20) We Are Scientists played an intimate acoustic gig to just 150 people at London’s Soho Review Bar, formerly the legendary Raymond Review Bar, the self proclaimed “world centre of erotic entertainment”.
In fact it was so personal that bassist Chris Cain joked; “When I made my son it wasn’t this intimate”.
The 60 minute set saw the band preview new material from the forthcoming album ‘Brain Thrust Mastery’ due for release in March as well as old favourites ‘Nobody Move Nobody Gets Hurt’, ‘It’s A Hit’ and ‘The Great Escape’.
As well as music there was plenty of banter, with subjects including O2 phones, McDonalds and Billy Joel.
At one point, halfway through ‘The Scene Is Dead’ Keith Murray stopped mid verse as an audience members mobile started to ring. Grabbing the handset Murray told the caller on the other end of the line to “Not call people when they are at the We Are Scientists show”.
