Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is to record a song with Freebass, according to the group’s bassist Peter Hook.
Freebass, which consists of former New Order bassist Hook, Mani from Primal Scream and ex-Smiths star Andy Rourke, have a history of working with major vocalists.
“We have had a lot of friends that have helped us which is what has got people’s interest really.
“We have got Ian Brown doing one this week, we persuaded Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins,” Hook told 6Music.
“We have got Rowetta….Tim Burgess done one. Howard Marks is doing a rap on one."
Hook exclusively told Gigwise last year that Liam Gallagher would also appear on the group’s forthcoming album.
Along with the three core members, Hook has revealed that Gary Briggs, formerly of Haven, will now join the group as a vocalist.
