    Mick Fleetwood Loses BBC Lawsuit

After four years of legal proceedings...

February 15, 2008 by Daniel Melia

Mick Fleetwood has lost his long running legal battle with the BBC over the distribution of Fleetwood Mac’s music.

The drummer began the lawsuit four years ago against the marketing department of the Beeb over the rights for rare music recordings and footage of the band held by the BBC archives.

A music sharing deal was signed in 2001 signed between Fleetwood and the BBC.

A Judge in America ruled in favour of the BBC on Thursday (February 14) stating they had made every attempt to make the deal work.

Judge James Haines attacked Fleetwood’s business partner Joseph McNulty saying he was “obsessed” with obtaining the exclusive rights from the BBC even though it was not in the terms of the agreement.

Material from acts such as Bruce Springsteen, U2, Santana and Elton John was also involved in the legal proceedings.
