The Spice Girls For Nelson Mandela's 90th Birthday Concert?

Just a day after Geri Halliwell announced that The Spice Girls reunion tour would be their last, it seems the pop outfit may yet be playing one more show – Nelson Mandela’s birthday concert.

Apparently a massive event is being planned in London’s Hyde Park shortly before Mandela’s birthday on July 18, and The Spice Girls are the number one target to perform.

Mandela famously met the pop group in 1997 and said it was the “happiest day of his life”, while the Spices called him their “hero.”

According to the Daily Mirror, Queen are already confirmed for the event, while Robbie Williams, U2’s Bono, Rihanna, Annie Lennox, The Rolling Stones and Jay-Z – the latter of which will already be in the country for his headline Glastonbury slot.

The report claims that the concert will be held in late June.

    • Queen?! The same Queen who gladly took the blood money from Sun City? These disgusting people should be made to publicly apologise for working with the apartheid system. Wankers.

    • When Queen played Sun City, they insisted on playing to a mixed audience and had no support for the apartheid system. They are close friends of Nelson Mandela having taken an active role in the organisation of the 46664 campaign. Check your facts before making such a sweeping and ignorant statement.

    • Nelson Mandela a world leader and a man admired for his patience and efforts in bringing people together. Listen to you lot, you that need to get a grip on reality. This concert is not about Queen or any other artist, it is about celebrating the life of a passionate considerate man that has dedicated his life for the equality and freedom of a persecuted race. Stop bickering, ignorant fools!
