    Elbow: 'We're Playing Glastonbury!'

Elbow lead singer Guy Garvey at an intimate show at The Porchester Hall last night (February 12) announced that the band are playing Glastonbury Festival in June.

Launching their fourth album, 'The Seldom Seen Kid' at the one-off gig in West London's glamorous venue, Garvey thanked festival organiser Emily Eavis, who was in the crowd.

He said: "Yes, we'll definitely be playing Glastonbury. It's not really down to us – you can thank Emily yourself if you see her."

The festival is especially significant to the band and their fans - Elbow's 2004 single 'Grace Under Pressure' included a recording of that year's festival crowd, and both Emily and Michael Eavis are self-confessed fans.

The packed show saw the visibly delighted Garvey and co run through five tracks from the new record, scheduled to be released on March 17, including new single 'Grounds for Divorce', which saw Garvey attacking an iron bar onstage – or, as he put it, "An ingot of pure aluminium", and the festival-friendly 'One Day Like This'.

After the pounding opener 'Station Approach', Garvey, who was in an ebullient mood throughout the evening, said "It's so good to be back."

The band also played a host of old favourites, including 'Fugitive Motel', 'Forget Myself' and 'New Born', which Garvey dedicated to a heavily pregnant member of the front row "Despite its somewhat dark subject matter".

    Fugitive Motel
    One Day Like This
    Switching Off
    The Loneliness Tower Crane Driver
    Grounds for Divorce
    Leaders of the Free World
