Amy Winehouse is on the “road to recovery” after spending a fortnight in rehab, according to her mother Janice.
Mrs Winehouse was speaking on this morning’s GMTV and admitted that the five times Grammy winner is “coming back” to normality after her drug problems of recent months.
She also said that it was best that the singer didn’t travel to the Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, explaining: "I think it would have been too much for her because all of the travelling and flying there. I mean seeing what the Grammys were like. I thought if Amy were there, she'd be a little girl lost in it."
Of course, Winehouse performed via satellite link-up from a London studio for the Grammy Awards where she looked noticeably healthier than recent times.
Speaking about the woes of her daughter’s drug problems, Janice continued: "She was sort of with it but not with it. She's got a solid family and we're all there for her. I was helpless because there was nothing I could do. Amy had to do it for Amy and that's the way it is."
