Timbaland has announced plans to produce the first album to be released via mobile phone download only.
The producer has signed a deal with mobile company Verizon to put out the record "which will be exclusively available to subscribers of V Cast, Verizon's mobile entertainment service.”
He will produce one song per month during 2008 for the service working with a different artist each times as he travels round the US on the Verizon Mobile Recording Studio Bus.
Speaking about the record Timbaland told Billboard: "Just producing a mobile album has never been done. I'm the first to ever do it."
He added: "I'm just going to have fun with it. I'll just do what comes in mind.
"How I prepare for [the new album] is, I just do it, like any other album. The only difference is it's immediate."
Each track will be released just days after Timbaland has finished them while a compilation album is due for release at the end of the year.
