The company which owns XFM has announced plans to sell off the radio station's regional analogue licenses.
GCap say they will now concentrate "on Xfm’s heritage as a London brand and with a national broadband footprint".
XFM first tried to branch out beyond the confines of the M25 in 2004 when the were granted a license to broadcast in Manchester.
They have since set up stations in Scotland and one in South Wales at the end of 2007.
The cutbacks come as part of GCap’s spending reforms which also see the removal of Planet Rock and theJazz from digital radio.
The package is designed to fend off a proposed takeover from Global Radio.
