Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has urged fans not to record gigs and upload them to the internet.
Armstorng was playing with his side project Pinhead Gunpowder in Los Angeles earlier this week when he told the audience to put their cameras away.
He said: "YouTube can't own everything. There's also something called memories."
The band’s gig at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on Monday (February 4) was their first since 2001.
Armstrong formed the group in 1991 but his rise to fame with Green Day meant he had to pu the project on the back burner.

- Is there a video of this?

- I can’t really blame him. And somethings are worth just having as memories.

- What an arse. And, pray, what memories of the gig will his fans have who don’t live in West Hollywood? I’m not saying hypocritical but judging by their last album, Green Day would (allegedly) sell their grandmas for an all inclusive deal with LiveNation... Would Billie Joe be complaining if he received royalties from YouTube?

- Give the bloke a break and a bit of respect. I say good on ya Billie!I think its nice that you wanted people to stop filming the gigs. It makes it more special for the fans that did come to see you play. A video cant capture the magic or atmosphere of a performance. Come over to England so that we can come and see you for ourselves pleeeeeeeeeeeez.
