Whitesnake's Mel Galley Diagnosed With Terminal Cancer

Former Whitesnake guitarist Mel Galley has been diagnosed with terminal cancer he has revealed.

Galley, 59, says he has accepted that he has very little time left to live but admits he is happy with the life he had lead.

He told the Express & Star: "I've had a fantastic life. I have been very lucky. I have seen some great bands, and played with many great musicians.

"I have enjoyed some tremendous experiences. I am thankful that I can say a proper goodbye to all the friends I have made, who are now rallying round me."

Galley, who has also played with Trapeze and Phenomena, was set to return to the stage with a new band next month.

I am shocked and saddened by the news of Mel Galley. My thoughts go to him and his familly. A talented musician. God bless him

A sad,sad day for the midlands and music in general. A Mel tribute concert would not go amiss, with Glenn heading it all up...make it in Cannock too

So sorry to hear the news Mel, remember the Golden Diamond Sutton-in-Ashfield, great Trapeze shows in the 70’s God bless ya Mel i’m praying for you. Tribute concert is a great idea, and i’ll do the drumming.

i have known mel for some many years , he,s a truly fantastic bloke musician and proud father to his two children and a loving husband to his wife Annette our thoughts and prayers are with him allways..
