More Led Zeppelin An all-girl tribute act to Led Zeppelin playing Bonnaroo Festival - Lez Zeppelin (note the ‘Z’) - caused widespread confusion yesterday after a whole string of online publications ran news stories claiming it was the real deal playing the Tennessee extravaganza.
Less than keen-eyed journalists at sites, including Associated Press, Billboard.com and NME.com, published stories claiming that Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Jon Paul Jones and Jason Bonham were set to play their first date since their O2 Arena show last December, when the press release in fact read LeZ Zeppelin.
Bonnaroo bosses then had the mountainous task of phoning round the organisations getting them to pull the story, leaving the sites red-faced and music fans all over the globe chuckling at the hilarious mix-up.
A spokesperson for the festival said: "We thought it would be a good idea (to have Lez Zeppelin play). We've had to make a lot of calls to correct this. It seems a lot of people were caught out by the press announcement."
Gigwise has just checked out New York based LeZ Zeppelin on Myspace and we think they’re fucking great. See what you think here
