A band that has certainly been generating a lot of “Have you heard that band” comments amongst the indie scene – 1984 finally bestow upon us their debut single after much deliberation and promises of something great. Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like it has been worth the wait. Promoting themselves as a hypnotic rock odyssey of a band, it would seem there has been some sort of confusion on the bands part as to what the difference between hypnotic and monotonous actually is.Coming off like a bad Cramps rip off, their debut ‘Cache Cache’ could be lifted straight off of ‘Songs The Lord Taught Us’ yet lacking the gusto, originality or even panache of their blatant influences.

With the same nightmarish Jaws-like guitar line constantly grating on the listener and the only break coming in the form of the horrible and depressing chorus that sees our frontman moan like a wounded animal, it isn’t long before you either switch the stereo off or go back to your Eighties Matchbox or Cramps albums. Boring, apathetic, and lacking any sort of power that can be seen in their live shows ‘Cache Cache’ is disappointing to say the least.

    Released 11/02/08 on Weekender Records.
