    Russell Watson Completes Tumour Radiotherapy

It was 'no walk in the park'...

February 06, 2008 by Scott Colothan

Opera singer Russell Watson has completed his five-week long course of radiotherapy aimed to thwart his recurrent brain tumour.

The singer made the announcement on his official website and said that thoughts of his wife and daughter got him through his intensive treatment.

He writes: “It’s been no walk in the park; I’ve had my moments under that machine where I just wanted to stop the bloody thing and walk away, but thoughts of Rebecca and Hannah kept me going, plus the fact that every day in the machine has brought the end that little bit closer.”

Despite the treatment being over, the singer revealed that he still facing regular scans to check whether the tumour is totally clear.

Watson was first struck with a tumour in 2006 and had an operation to have it removed. However, this came back last October when Watson became seriously ill and had to have emergency surgery.

    • my daughter was diagnosed with a mass of cancerous cells behind the nose at the point where it was impossible to remove all by operation. 6 weeks of radiotherapy followed and all the horrible side effects - however thank God she is fine now and has 6 monthly check-ups. At the time she was diagnosed she had a little girl of 16 months and her relationship ended - quite a difficult time. That was in December 2000. Good luck to Russell and his family and a belief in God will get you through.
