US rapper Jay-Z could be on the verge of releasing a new album, just months after the release of his latest LP ‘American Gangster’, it’s been reported.
The claims follow the leak of a new track by the rapper, entitled, ‘Ain’t I’, which has been produced by Timbaland.
So far, Jay-Z has only released two singles off ‘American Gangster’, which was released to much critical acclaim late last year.
Fans, therefore, have expressed their surprise that a new track, which doesn’t feature on the album, has emerged so soon.
Although a spokesperson for the rapper has denied that it's a new recording, the song appears to feature lyrics which reference to his recent departure as an executive at Def Jam records.
"I took a pay cut to become a exec/ So the next mother ****er can earn his paycheck/ And even though these n--as talk greasy 'bout me/ Ask these n---as how they gonna eat without me!" raps Jay-Z.
Speaking to MTV, Jay-Z’s representative wouldn’t be drawn on the prospects of a new album.
