Fans of The Kooks have been expressing their worry about the bands future following the departure of bassist Max Rafferty.
Rafferty’s departure, just days ahead of a series of live shows, was confirmed in a statement released by the band this morning (January 30th).
It said that Dan Logan would be joining the band as a short term replacement.
It’s the second time the bass player has left the Brighton band; an earlier departure in 2006 was blamed on “illness”.
The sudden nature of Rafferty’s exit has prompted many of the bands fans to ask what’s next for the group, who are due to release their sophomore album, ‘Konk’, in April.
“They'll split and I wont see them playing live,” said one ‘gutted’ fan.
Another said: “What a shame! Was kind of inevitable, but I didn't think it would be so soon- I thought maybe after the Konk tour.”
As it stands, the band are still expected to fulfil touring commitments in April, which will see them embark on a huge UK tour.

Dont know much about max’s bass playing, but there Gerry’s a cracking sax player.
- Oh boo-hoo! It’s only the bloody Kooks - just a boyband with guitars. More drama school graduates that have more in common with light entertainment than rock’n’roll. Wish that Rafferty would take the rest of them with him. Tossers.

- i love the kooks, they cant split up. :(

i’ve disowned family members for listening to the kooks. **** off
- He was the only good member in the band. he had probably had enough of lukes ego. kooks are shit... long live max
