Madonna Is Music's Top Female Earner

Madonna is the highest earning female musician in the world, according to new figures.

The pop star grossed £36.2million last year thanks to her Confessions world tour and sponsorship deal with high-street chain H&M.

Barbara Streisand, the oldest person on the annual ‘rich list’, which has been published by Forbes, was the second highest earner with £30.1million

A noticeable proportion of the veteran singers earning came from her performances at the O2 Arena last summer.

The rest of the top ten included Celine Dion at three (£22.6million) and Beyonce at number five (£13.5million).
