Israel Lifts 43 Year Ban On The Beatles

They want Paul and Ringo to visit the country...

Share

Israel has invited the remaining members of The Beatles to visit their country, a massive 43 years after banning them.

The Middle Eastern nation banned the fab four from performing in the country back in 1965 over fears that their music would corrupt the youth.

Now, the Israeli ambassador to London, Ron Prosor, is calling on Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to visit the country this May as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations.

Mr Prosor is currently in Liverpool after marking Holocaust Memorial Day there and is due to meet up with John Lennon’s sister Julia Baird to hand her an official letter of apology over the ban.

He is also handing the invitation to the director of the Beatles Story museum Jerry Goldman, who tells the BBC: "I've got close ties to Israel, so I'm thrilled. It would be fantastic if they did visit."

  • Banning them for such a dumbass reason and then lifting it 43 years later just in time so the remaining Beatles can visit the country for festivities? If I were either Paul or Ringo, I would not only tell them what they can do with the invite, I would manually insert it myself...

  • Not only do I think that Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr should visit Israel, but not just necessarily for Israel’s 60th,I would highly encourage music’s ambassadors Sir Paul and Ringo to perform there, and make it real special,to show them in person what we’ve know for all these years. How great the music of the Beatles still is.Let the music speak for itself and let the ignorance of the past,be just that. The impact this could have on the rest of the world. Better late than nev
