Marilyn Manson: I Would Win A School Shootings Grammy

Marilyn Manson has hit out at the media furore that unfairly surrounds him when young people commit acts of violence in America.

The shock-rocker was speaking about his reunion with bassist and songwriter Twiggy Ramirez and said it’s important the name Marilyn Manson is synonymous with his musical output rather than the unjust links to tragedies like the Columbine High School massacre.

The 39-year-old says: “For Marilyn Manson, it seems to have become about the death toll, because we get blamed for every act of violence. They don’t have a Grammy award for school shootings, but I guess I would get one if they did, whether I asked for one or not.

“It’s good to have my partner back, who was the only person able to stare all of that in the face and not be afraid of it. He and I are like brothers in that when we’re together, we’re not afraid of anything. I think that’s how we’ve made our best music,” reports the Boston Globe.

Manson’s was blamed by some in the aftermath of Columbine for the shootout as it was thought that both Eric Klebold and Dylan Harris were fans of his music. A point that was later contended.

    • You’re an idiot Stephanie! He is saying that it’s not his fault! He’s saying it ISN’T his music that causes stuff like Columbine. Read the article more closely and you’ll be able to see...and maybe even spell properly too. Who knows?

    • i love marilyn manson, and whoever thinks he was the cause of the shooting, is just wrong. his music brings out emotions, actions, and thoughts, so people can release what they’ve held in for so long. the hate of parents, the control of teacher, whatever. his music has inspired thousands, and with the fact of being hated by all Christians, his music has made a movement, that will live on forever.

    • Goddamn...almost ten years after the fact you guys STILL haven’t heard that Klebold and Harris weren’t fans of Manson at all??? Aside from your shocking lack of research, I guess it was a nice piece, though. :-
