In a fresh interview, Radiohead have unveiled their musical and literary heroes and there are one or two surprises.

As well as the more obvious choices – The Smiths, Pixies, Liars, M.I.A and the likes - bassist Colin Greenwood revealed he is an obsessive fan of Fleetwood Mac. In fact, he’s even managed to surreptitiously work some Mac songs into the band’s webcasts.

He told Rolling Stone: “Well I try to tell everyone, I'm a complete fan of Fleetwood Mac. I put a couple of things on the webcast and I thought I would hear some mutterings about it. I didn't say what it was, and they'd say, 'Wow, that was great, what was it?' and I would say, 'Fleetwood Mac, you bastards!'

“I'm not a pansy. Our manager introduced me to Fleetwood Mac years ago because he knows Peter Green-era, sort of psychedelic folk blues. Just the way it was recorded with the drums, the dry drums with the percussion in the background. Just really amazing and it sounds really modern to me as well. I just think it's great.”

  • There is no just one Fleetwood Mac. It all depends on the era and who played in it, Because it was the members alongside Mick Fleetwood and John McVie that made THE Fleetwood Mac of their times : Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Bob Brunning, Danny Kirwan, Christine McVie, Bob Welch, Bob Weston, Dave Walker, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Billy Burnette, Rick Vito, Bekka Bramlett, Dave Mason. I wonder which Fleetwood Mac Colin Greenwood refers to......
