The Metropolitan police have confirmed that they are investigating the video footage of Amy Winehouse which allegedly shows her taking drugs.
The controversial footage of the troubled singer in her East London home was leaked to The Sun and published online and in print yesterday (January 22). It’s claimed that Winehouse is smoking crack, and she also admits to taking six Valium tablets in the mobile phone video.
A statement released yesterday said police will look into the footage when the tabloid hands it over. It has since been given in and Tower Hamlets detectives are now analysing the material.
The statement read: “Officers will be viewing the footage when we receive it from the media. We will then assess the footage to ascertain whether any action needs to be taken. As always we thank the media for their co-operation."
As reported yesterday, Amy Winehouse reported to a London clinic yesterday evening with her father Mitch in tow after the footage emerged. Click here to see Winehouse checking in.
