Former Beatle Ringo Starr stormed off an American TV show yesterday (January 22nd) because he was asked to cut short one of his songs.
Starr was scheduled to perform ‘Liverpool 8’ on Regis And Kelly Live but took exception to requests by the shows’ producer to shorten the five minute song.
"[Starr's] appearance on the show had been booked since November with their commitment the song would be two minutes and 30 seconds, which is our standard [song] time for anyone," a spokeswoman told the New York Post.
"Those details were reiterated many times [to Starr] since then, verbally and in writing," she added.
Starr, who was also scheduled to be interviewed on the show, left the studio at 8am, in despite of an attempted compromise by the show to allow him to perform for three minutes.
Starr’s walk out follows his appearance on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross last week where he made controversial comments about Liverpool.
His remarks sparked anger in the city because of his current role promoting Liverpool’s year as the Capital of Culture in Europe.
