Guillemots Ready 'Prince-esque' Pop Record

Sporting lovely new haircuts, Guillemots have unveiled full details of their much-anticipated second album.

The eleven track record, simply titled ‘Red’, and is released through Polydor Records on March 24. The single ‘Get Over It’ precedes it a week earlier.

Speaking of the follow-up to 2006’s acclaimed ‘Through The Windowpane’, frontman Fyfe Dangerfield explains that it has more of a pop edge than their debut.

He said: “We didn’t want to make Through The Windowpane 2. That was a softer record. This time around we just wanted to make a bunch of pop songs that punched, instantly.

“To make pop songs that demand your attention, that make you stop in your tracks when they come on the radio, that's our ultimate ambition.”

According to their label, the record is ‘a tour-de-force that marries Guillemots’ natural melodic flair with a sense of dancefloor abandonment, not heard since Prince’s ‘80s wild pop adventures.’

Sounds interesting, then. ‘Red’ has been written by all four members of the band and has been co-produced by U2 and Paul McCartney collaborator Adam Noble.
