Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood Denied Oscar Nomination?

Jonny Greenwood’s score for the excellent ‘There Will Be Blood’ maybe disqualified from the Oscar nominations it has been revealed.

Greenwood’s soundtrack has been praised by many and already has a BAFTA nomination under its belt.

However, according to the Los Angeles Times the music doesn’t quite meet the criteria set out by the committee for the Best Original Score category.

A source told the newspaper that the score may be barred because "the majority of the music was not composed specifically for the film."

A large part of the soundtrack was taken from Greenwood’s BBC-commissioned composition ‘Popcorn Superhet Receiver’ which he won a British Composer Award for last year.

    • I’m not surprised about this incident. I also highly doubt the truthfulness of reason. Instead maybe because the Oscars are such a political force, Thom Yorke and his persistent rantings are not winning any favors for anyone he is associated with. It is a shame that the other talented members of Radiohead have to be in the crossfire of Thom Yorke and whoever he perceives his enemies to be on any particular day.
