Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage, a spokesperson from her record company has confirmed.
The pop star revealed that she was expecting her first child with Ed Simons from The Chemical Brothers last December.
The couple, who met last summer, were said to be “distraught” by a close friend last night.
The singer is due to front a new television show for the BBC later this spring which has been inspired by social-networking websites.
Allen first shot to fame in 2006 when demos she posted on Myspace attracted the attention of record label executives.
