A host of America’s big name music stars are considering boycotting this year’s Grammy Awards according to reports.
The likes of Justin Timberlake, The White Stripes, Prince, 50 Cent, Alicia Keys and more are said to weighing up whether to support the Writers Guild Of America and not turn up.
The ceremony is amongst the many awards shows under threat of cancellation because of the WGA strike after the music world pledged their support too.
A source told the New York Daily News: "The writers are especially interested in artists who might perform on the show. If they pull out, the show comes apart."
However, the WGA say that they have yet to make a final decision about their stance on the Grammys.
The ceremony is due to take place in Los Angeles on February 10.

- genuine question: what does the WGA have to with music? I’m confused.

- Some recording artists, including Justin Timberlake, are members of SAG. And SAG is supporting the WGA, and SAG’s contract will be up for negotiation in June. They’ll be facing the same companies, on the same issues.
- Musicians I ask you this... Should you only receive your original contract fee for your albums? Or should you be compensated further when your albums go platinum and beyond? Should you be rewarded financially when your talent and hard work are bought around the world? It’s onlya fair that you are, and we think it’s fair that we are, too.
I am pleading for your help. I have friends who are defaulting on their mortgages. Please support the WGA. Thank you!
- They write the show, I’d guess -- intros, jokes, retrospectives and honors. Considering how lame the delivery usually is, I doubt those parts would be missed, but its cool that the artists might refuse to cross the picket lines if drawn.
- The Writers’ Strike is just a cause that some artists may want to support.
