Teenage sensation Soulja Boy has become the first artist to sell more than 3 million copies of a song via digital download.
The 17-year-old’s song ‘Crank That’, which topped the American Billboard Top-100 for seven weeks, is currently at number three in the UK charts.
Steve Berman, president of sales and marketing at Interscope Records, says that Soulja Boy has “set the bar for what's possible in terms of breaking an artist online".
Soulja Boy initially released his music through YouTube, before signing with Interscope last year.
"I can't thank my fans enough, without them all of this wouldn't have been possible. The support they give me is beyond incredible,” Way said.
‘Crank That’ is nominated for an award at next month's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
