Olga Sarantos, grandmother of Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger of the Fiery Furnaces, has died.
Sarantos famously appeared on the band’s 2006 album ‘Rehearsing My Choir’, where she recounted stories about her life.
Her appearance on the album, which was widely considered as a concept project, was greeted by mixed reactions upon its release.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Sarantos began her musical career at the age of 12 as an organist and her involvement in music continued throughout her life.
Neither, Matthew or Eleanor Friedberger have made a comment.
