Frank Black Talks Nasty Sex and Nastier Death

The mighty Frank Black has announced details of a new mini-album under his Black Francis moniker, which centres on the themes of “nasty sex, nastier death and beautifully strange birth.”

The seven-track work, ‘SVN FNGRS’, clocks in at a mere 20 minutes and will be released through Cooking Vinyl on March 3.

The Pixies man explains that in an almost biblical turn of events, the record was recorded in just six days, while on seventh day the band put their feet up while Mark Lem house did the artwork.

Produced by his drummer Jason Carter, Black explains: “The production is sparse in terms of the band, which, by the way, seems to be a kind of 'Black Francis' thing that has been developing ever since.

“I went back to the old stage name, but is much more produced in terms of the vocal layering of my own voice, perhaps along the lines of ‘TEENAGER OF THE YEAR.’ I won't bother you here with what the damn concept is, but let's just say the theme revolves around a lot of NASTY sex, NASTIER death, and beautifully strange birth.”

The track listing is as follows:

    1. The Seus
    2. Garbage Heap
    3. Half Man
    4. Sent Away

    5. Seven Fingers
    6. The Tale of Lonesome Fetter
    7. When They Come To Murder Me

To back up his mini album, he’s also playing a mini tour of the UK which takes in:

    Glasgow Garage – February 10
    Manchester Academy 2 - 12
    London KOKO– 13
    Portsmouth Wedgwood Rooms – 14
