Mobb Deep member Prodigy was hospitalised on Monday night (January 7), the day before he was due to turn himself in for a three-and-a-half year jail sentence for weapons offences.
The 33-year-old rapper suffered from complications from sickle cell anaemia and was discharged the same night, reports Allhiphop.com. However, he has now been granted a 30 day stay and won’t begin his sentence just yet.
Prodigy – real name Albert Johnson – was sentenced for his weapons possession in October last year.
Police arrested him a year previously when he was discovered driving down a one way street in New York the wrong way with producer The Alchemist. Inside his SUV, police found a .22 calibre handgun.
